
Chronic Pain
General Information
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
Interns will take two call weekends.
Generally, pages/consults will not require you to come in. If there is a true urgency/emergency, let the pain fellow know and they will help assess the situation.
Location: UH CMC, Westlake, Richmond, Geauga, Beachwood
Weekly scheduled is usually emailed out Sunday night.
Schedule is split between outpatient clinic and procedure days.
Text/email your attending the night prior to confirm when/where to meet in the morning.
Clinic
See patients, present to attending, write notes.
While you don’t necessarily have to pre-chart every patient the night prior, it may help move things along if you have the time.
Use the sticky note in Epic to write down the following pertinent history:
Last visit details (if established patient), imaging, PT history, procedures, meds (OARRS), etc.
Have Dragon set up on Epic and on your phone to make writing notes more efficient!
Occasionally, you will perform minor office procedures during the visit.
Procedure Days
Consent the patient, mark laterality, confirm AC status, allergies.
Assist in perform nerve blocks, steroid injections, ablations, etc.
Check in on patients after their procedure, prior to them going home.
